Thailand will be sending a men’s and a ladies team to the World Lawn Bowls Championships in Adelaide, Australia which take place from November 24th – December 9th.  Both teams will consist of five bowlers, each of whom will compete against the best bowlers in the world, in two of the singles, pairs, trips or fours events.  They will bowl at least 22 games and more if they qualify for the semi-finals.

Both their men’s and ladies teams qualified as a result of their performances over the last two years in international tournaments.  As only 24 countries qualified for each it is quite a remarkable achievement, especially bearing in mind that there are less than 60 Thai bowlers in the whole of the country and only four locations where bowling takes place.

Included in the squad are two girls from Pattaya, Thong Oomen and Orawan Sodok, both of whom bowl at the two facilities here, The Retreat and The Coco Club and have regular  opportunities to improve their skills by bowling against the various ‘farangs’ from Europe and Australia who live here.
