Four Pattaya-area neighborhoods have been chosen to participate in a Burapha University child-protection research pilot project.
Communities on sois Krathinglai, Khow Noi, and Kophai along with Old Naklua Market-area residents joined the Pattaya Social Welfare Department and Burapha’s Nursing Study Group at an Oct. 14 kickoff meeting, chaired by Deputy Mayor Wattana Chantanawaranon and Somchai Siriroj from Chonburi’s Social Development and Human Security Department, held at Pattaya City Hall.
The Child Protection Development Project is aimed at creating measures to solve behavioral and family problems. Research teams will survey community members to gather data and discuss findings.
Each community will set up a child protection committee that will designate operational groups for child support, creation of network cooperation for support, and cooperative systems. This includes identifying and targeting areas where children are at risk of violence or exploitation, such as Internet game centers and parks.
