Six Vietnamese fishing boats were seized and 20 crewmen arrested after being caught illegally fishing in Sattahip Bay.
The HTMS Keereerath intercepted two sets of three boats 35 and 60 nautical miles, respectively, off Koh Chuang May 12. The twenty fishermen were brought on board and their catches of squid confiscated.
As was the case in recent Vietnamese boat seizures, the fishing vessels had been disguised to look like Thai boats, all flying the Thai flag and hiding their registration numbers.
All the crewmembers were jailed and charged with illegal fishing and other Fisheries Act infractions.
