Pattaya has ordered owners of open land to fence off their property and erect signs to block them from becoming illegal trash dumps, like this one on Soi Nongmaikaen 6.

Following a string of cases where undeveloped land had become littered with huge piles of garbage and construction waste, Mayor Anan Charoenchasri ordered a survey of open fields and their owners.

Letters were sent to the property owners informing them of the new regulation, said city spokesman Pinit Maneerat. He said the city also is concerned about vacant property that has become overgrown and dark, as it can be used for nefarious purposes.

Residents who spot piles of rubbish and ad-hoc dumps can call the Pattaya Contact Center at 1337 or 086-392-1707 during office hours.
