Thananop Silpamongkol, 27, was taken into custody at the store on Soi Pornprapanimit 5 May 13 after he allegedly pulled a knife on the 20-year-old clerk, demanding all the cash in the register.

The young woman told police Thananop had come in and feigned that he wanted to buy gum. When she opened the register, he threatened her at knifepoint. But as he went to grab the money, she slammed the drawer shut and he fled on a motorbike.

She called police, but Thananpop returned before officers arrived, demanding to know if she had called the cops. He got his answer soon enough.

During questioning, Thananpop admitted he’d ingested crystal methamphetamine just before the robbery, police said, adding that he claimed he needed money for partying and more drugs.
