Part of the Amazing Thailand International Adventure Race Championships Series 2011, the 6th edition of the River Kwai Trophy is by far the largest and most exciting Adventure Race in South East Asia.

Scheduled for Saturday, March 5th, the race will start at the famous River Kwai Bridge at 8:30 a.m. and will take teams of two through various activities and challenges including running, kayaking, biking, swimming and other mystery tests.

150 teams from around the world are expected at the start and more than 1000 people will attend the event including VIP’s, sponsor’s guests, families, supporters, media, competitors and local communities.

This year’s event is particularly exciting with best Asian teams coming from Hong Kong and Singapore to challenge local champions Saman Gunnan and Seree Ruangsiri (Winners of Yara Bangkok Challenge and ibis Koh Samui Trophy 2010).

Saman Gunnan, the Thailand Adventure Race Champion 2010 is hungry for more silverware and is eager to clinch his first ever River Kwai Trophy victory.  Saman has already won the Chiang Mai Challenge, Bangkok Challenge and Koh Samui Trophy in the past few years.

“This is the only Adventure Race title I have not yet won in Thailand” says Saman.  “I have trained very hard to win this edition and bring back the trophy to my country!”

It is expected that last year’s winners, top athletes from Asia Pacific Adventure, Ryan Blair and Piers Trouzel, will have their work cut out if they want to retain the trophy and keep it in Hong Kong for another year.
