We can all have problems with our health from time to time, but according to the people behind Easy Health, all you have to do is Eat Healthy to Live Long and Be Strong.

A very packed burrito.

If it were really that easy, the Dining Out team decided we should investigate these claims being promoted by this new restaurant called Easy Health. On entering, we found the ambience is very modern, with plate glass on two sides, large very well upholstered chairs and very friendly staff.

As well as the interior air-conditioned dining area, there is an outer section, which is covered, and people can smoke there – but would you want to smoke in a health restaurant?

There are posters on the walls informing the diners of some little known facts about some of the vegetables. Avocado for example has healthy fats, fiber, magnesium, Vitamin E, Vitamin B6. And by the way, Easy Health brings down its own avocados from Chiang Mai. There are also flat screen TV’s to show the customers what the dishes will look like.

The menu is a two sided sheet beginning with breakfasts with suggestions for wraps (B. 150-180) and bowls (B. 120-320) with granola, peanut butter, etc. There is a section for lunches and dinners, again wraps are on offer (B. 150-180) with some chicken based, others (Green Market) featuring spinach and avocado and Mexican burritos, muchacho with beef, beans and tomatoes.

The next section has salads, and look at what is in your tuna salad – tuna, romaine, tomatoes, green beans, red onions, black olives, carrots, edamame and vinaigrette, and all that for B. 220. If you are unsure of ‘edamame’, Web MD had the answer for the team, describing it as a fancy name for boiled green soybeans, and very healthy. Soups are B. 150 with cauliflower, ginger carrot and zucchini.

There is a section for Paleo meals, but there is an explanation on the screens, and it is frankly just another name for healthy ingredients.

Thai food also well presented.

There are many Thai dishes (B. 70-120) and Madame chose a Pad kapow gai which featured red, unpolished rice and chicken, pumpkin, garlic and carrots. Red rice is a variety of rice that is colored red by its anthocyanin content. It is usually eaten unhulled or partially hulled, and has a red husk, rather than the more common brown. Red rice has a nutty flavor. Compared to polished rice, it has the higher nutritional value of rice eaten with the germ intact.

For myself it was a BBQ burrito which was filled with chicken, brown rice, black beans, red onions, tomatoes, corn, cheddar and BBQ dressing. Much more than five colors in that burrito, and I loved it. Eat with your hands, even though they do supply cutlery. Hands are more fun.

This is a very different restaurant for Pattaya. If you enjoy tasty food, you will enjoy Easy Health, and at the end sit there with a smile on your face knowing just how much you have done for yourself in the battle for good health. It is not a restaurant for tree huggers, nor is it just a muesli and using the name “Health”. Quite frankly I went to this restaurant thinking I will leave dying for a plate of bacon and chips, but quite the reverse. I left satisfied, with a smile on my face. Good food, well presented and fun. Do go and try. I am sure you will enjoy it, while sitting there and getting healthy!
