About 40 Pattaya families worked on improving relationships between parents and children at a city-organized “family vaccine” clinic.
Deputy Mayor Vichien Pongpanit opened the May 19-21 seminar at the Citin Garden Resort that brought together 95 adults and children with social workers and academics.
The “vaccine” being offered was an emotional, not physical one. Ten lecturers from the Nursery Learning Management Group in Phrae Province provided mediation to solve problems between parents and children and led role-playing exercises between kids and adults and spouses.
Vichien said the workshop was organized due to changes in modern culture, where families eat fewer meals together, resulting in communication lapses, and kids get involved in drugs, leading to social problems and crime.
The hope is everyone can take what they learn and apply it to their own lives and tell their neighbors what they learned, the deputy mayor said.
