Mogens Melander.

Mogens Melander was the man of the match for what seems the billionth time with a blistering 40 points, which was nine strokes clear of second placed Marcus Earp.  Chris Evans closed the flight with 29.

The game was played in excellent weather and at a brisk pace with no hold ups; it took just three hours and 10 minutes to complete the round.

Wednesday, July 5, Siam Waterside – Medal

1st Mike Cheswick (8) net 76

2nd Keith Emerson (15) net 78

3rd Marcus Earp (20) net 84

Perhaps it was because there had been a very heavy thunderstorm in the night, or perhaps some players do not appreciate Siam Waterside, but there was only a small low-season turnout for our visit today.  We decided to forgo the normal stableford format and elected to play a stroke comp.  It was a beautiful day with a slight threat of rain.

Mike Cheswick took the match honours with a sound net 76 and was two strokes clear of Keith Emerson, leaving golf manager Marcus Earp to tidy up the flight a further two stokes back.

The game was completed in 3 hours and 45 minutes with the guys having a very enjoyable game of golf.

Thursday, July 6, Burapha – Medal

1st Erwing Haefliger (12) net 73

2nd L. David Walker (26) net75

3rd Urs Theiler (14) net76

Burapha has not quite returned to the glory days but if the progress continues to be made it will not be long, and once again a must visit for all players in the area.  The condition of the course, allied to the very competitive pricing during the low season, will ensure that it remains on the schedule as a regular feature during the coming months.

With the course looking so well it was of little surprise to find the scores much better than earlier competitions in the week.  We played another medal comp today and the man of the match with a fine net 73 was Erwing Haefliger.  Erwing was two strokes clear of L. David Walker and a further stroke clear of Urs Theiler.

Friday, July 7, Siam Old Course – Medal

1st Keith Emerson (11) net 73

2nd Urs Theiler (14) net 76

3rd Mike Cheswick (8) net 77

The last game of the week for Lewiinskis golfers was a visit to Siam Old Course to play yet another medal competition.  The course was in excellent condition as always and the absence of golfers also helped an early start and an early finish.

Low scores are achievable here but only by players at the top of their game.  Keith Emerson took the match honours with a rock solid net 73 and was followed up the podium steps by Urs Theiler three strokes in arrears.  This left Mike Cheswick to close the flight with a net 77.
