Lewiinski’s Golf Society
Sunday, July 9, Green Valley – Monthly Medal
1st John Harrison (12) net 71
2nd Kevin McEntee (7) net 75
Sunday was another trip to our home course Green Valley to play the Sunday medal. The weather behaved itself again, it was a relatively cool day with temperatures in the mid-eighties and we completed the game in four hours.
The winner of the monthly medal was none other than John Harrison who shot a very respectable net 71. John picked up the lead cut crystal engraved whisky glass, an invitation to the gold medal competition to be held later in the year and also gets his name etched on the Lewiinskis wall of shame. John was four shots clear of newly arrived from Ireland, Kevin ‘the County Offaly gang leader’ McEntee.
Thursday, July 13, Burapha C & D – Stableford
1st Dave Walker (26) 34pts
2nd Rick Groebel (14) 32pts
3rd Bobby Gonzalez (17) 24pts
A low season group left Lewiinski’s to play a stableford comp at Burapha and we were allotted the C and D nines from the white tees. The course was in great condition but the rough was brutal in some areas. The greens were especially good and were a joy to putt. The weather was kind as the rain held off till we were traveling back to Lewiinski’s.
The man of the match today was Dave Walker with 34 points and he was two stokes clear of Rick Groebel in second, leaving American Bobby Gonzalez in a daze that his 24 points gave him third spot on the podium.
Friday, July 14,
Mt. Shadow – Stableford
1st Neil Vieth 33pts
2nd John Harrison (12) 33pts
3rd Steve Evans 30pts
Today we played Mountain Shadow and the fairways were fine but the greens were very slow and in general the course is lacking in maintenance. The place was void of golfers and we only saw three groups all day. The weather remained dry and very humid.
Neil Vieth was the man of the match with 33 points but Neil did need the aid of a count back over the unlucky John Harrison. Steve Evans completed the podium with 30 points
