The decomposing remains of a baby dolphin washed up on Yim Yom Beach, an apparent victim of a fishing trawler.
Motorbike taxi driver Supoj Monthaitong, 47, reported the dead mammal around sunset July 17. He said he had seen it floating offshore and the tide washed it onto the Pratamnak Soi 12 beachhead.
The juvenile dolphin was about a meter long and weighed approximately 20 kilograms. Due to advance decomposition, the sex could not be determined.
The mammal’s fins were missing as well, leading authorities to believe it got caught in a boat’s fishing net and drowned.
