The Tara Court took part in what has become their annual reunion in Ireland at Mannan Castle Golf Club. This is a very beautiful golf course in Donaghamoyne outside Carrickmacross, where some of us originate from and we had many friends travel a long way from many parts of Ireland to meet up. Even though it is July in Ireland you have to be lucky with the weather and today we were as we got no rain and had a beautiful day for golf.
Francis McGuigan had played very good golf on his last trip to Thailand earlier this year and he hasn’t lost his touch since he came home as today he came out a clear winner with thirty six points. This is all the more creditable as Francis wouldn’t have played this course many times and there were actually some playing who are members here in Mannan.
John Connolly started off badly with thirteen points on the front nine but he made up for it on the back nine with twenty one points on eight holes and despite a blank on the eighteenth he still finished with thirty-four to take the second place on count back, and to make t even better he also had a two. We had two more players on thirty four points with Michael Healy taking third place and Thomas Cunningham fourth.
Two players came in with thirty- three points and here Paddy Kingham won the count back to take the fifth ahead of Richie Martin.
