The first game of a new week was at Plutaluang, not a favourite of many due to the coarse grass, however the North and West nines which we were allocated are enjoyable to play and a good challenge.
One of our members Trevor Priestly had one of those days. He went directly from check-in to the first tee minus clubs or caddie and had to return when it was pointed out to him that he needed to provide his green and caddie receipts to the marshal, so his playing partners waited patiently for some time. Eventually, the second group played through and waited on the fourth tee for his group to catch up. This was not the end of Trevor’s travails as he lost control of his card in the wind on the fourth tee and had to fish it out of the lake. He did, however, have a moment in the sun when he holed a thirty-foot putt for a birdie and achieved a second placing with a score of thirty-three points.
Third place went to Robbie Watts on thirty-one points, at this stage Robbie seems to have an unassailable lead in golfer of the month competition and he also got a near pin. Winner on the day despite about forty putts was Michael Brett with thirty-four points, also taking three near pins. Who knows what his score could have been if only he could putt!
Wednesday, July 19, Burapha C&D (blue tees) – Stableford
1st Les Cobban (8) 33pts
2nd Stuart Brown (13) 31pts
3rd Jimmy Carr (16) 29pts

With all this wet weather turnouts are low and the courses are playing long as there is no run on the ball. This did not deter the brave souls who travelled up to one of the best courses in the area. The course was in its usual impeccable form with well prepared greens, tees and bunkers.
The cream always rises to the top and Les Cobban came home with a respectable 33 points to win the day from new visitor Stuart Brown.
A long time member of Bunker Boys, Alan Freeman just won the Northamptonshire County Seniors and is now representing that County in the UK County Seniors Trophy in Scotland in August. We all wish him success in this tournament.
Friday, July 21, Treasure Hill (yellow tees) – Stableford.

Bright sunny skies with high wispy cloud greeted golfers for the last game of the week at Treasure Hill. In light of recent heavy rain, it was surprising to find that the course was dry enough for carts to be allowed on the fairways.
After three holes our numbers were reduced by one with the retirement of Tony Robbins who succumb to a nagging shoulder injury, we wish Tony a speedy recovery. I believe physiotherapy treatment is already underway so we hope to see him back on the course soon.
Robby Watts, who is enjoying a purple patch in form this month, dominated the round with a fine thirty-seven off a handicap of seven. Long straight drives and pin point accurate approach shots more than made up for his sometimes suspect putting. Second place went to Michael Brett who returned a lowly thirty-two points, again another to struggle with the flat stick. Third place went to Takeshi Hakozaki who on his day is capable of shooting a great score.
Jimmy Carr and Takeshi Hakozaki took a near pin each with Michael Brett taking two.
