Crystal Bay’s B and C courses were in pretty good condition considering the amount of water that they must have absorbed the previous night.
Hal Hart having won twice during the previous week was still in good form once again, running out the winner this time by two clear ahead of a count back for second and third places. That was won by Graham Davis after he outscored Mike Dabanovich with a better 18 to 15. Phil Cass took fourth place another couple behind the count back pair but many in front of fifth placed Shuichi Kodaka, who led in a very dispirited rest of the field.
There were no 2s in either of the divisions.
Wednesday, July 26, Khao Kheow B & C (yellow tees) – Stableford

Mike Dabanovich made up for losing out in the count back in the previous event by winning on this occasion with a better 12 to 11 over the last six after having tied the back nine at 18 with playing partner Jon Batty, who had to settle for second best on the day.
Peter Buckley, playing in his last competition before returning to Wollongong, took third someway back but well ahead of most of the field and two in front of fourth placed John O’Sullivan.
Toby Glass looked every inch the winner after nine holes having scores twenty points but followed that opening nine with a most extraordinary exhibition of “anchor throwing”. At least though he finished with enough points to make the podium where many others failed.
Toby cleaned out the first division multi-rollover ‘2’s pot whilst Phil Cass did the same in the second division.

The continuing poor weather during the early mornings affected the turnout for the monthly medals badly, with just two contenders in the first division and one of those was a transfer from the second division after taking a voluntary reduction in handicap. But once again the rain held off and resulted in good conditions for golf although as usual with the course playing quite long.
The first division medal was won with the highest score of the year as they both struggled to get to terms with the length from the tees. Neville Duncan won his first medal with the group and with “Chancer Hal” just fifteen behind in second place, both qualified for the first division Gold and Silvers.
Frank Dunstan won a much more closely contested second division, running out in top spot after a 49/51 split to net down to a 73. Peter Brown just squeezed into second place ahead of John O’Sullivan by one stroke having carded a strong back nine in a 50/47 against John’s 51/47.
There were no 2s in either of the divisions.
