An eager group of 16 golfers headed out to Pattana where we have not visited for some time. Yellow tees were played with ‘lift, clean and place’ applied due to heavy rain overnight.
Only one division was required and Rocky Lawson hit form with an impressive 39 points. His winning margin was 3 points from 3 players who all finished with 35. Those 3 in count back order were Brad Todd, Steve Younger & Dennis Steele.
Thursday, August 10, Plutaluang – 4P Ambrose
Well another year has passed and we headed out to play Plutaluang in memory of Tony Olcorn (Spagoni) who unfortunately passed away on this course 4 years ago. Forty players turned out to play, including 12 who flew in all the way from Brisbane, Australia, which in itself as a great recognition of Tony.
We played the North and West nines from the yellow tees and the marshall on the day let us have two starting points. This meant that 5 groups went from North and the other 5 groups teed from West course and it certainly cut waiting time down.
The winners with a score of net 52.8 were the team of Ian Parry, Aaron Shorten, Andrew Allen & Ron Gillette. Second on the day were Steve Younger, Greg Proctor, John Anderson & Dick Braimbridge with a net 52.9 while the quartet of Stu Rifkin, Rocky Lawson, Gary Williams & Lorraine Percy took third with net 53.9.
Near pin awards were claimed by Martin Kempton, Peter Bye, Ian Parry and Greg Proctor, while the long putts went to Glenn Smith and Alex Field.
