Five northern provinces recently touted national parks and unique handicrafts in the hope of attracting tourists from the Pattaya area.
Atit Pongpanith, deputy director of Narasuan University ‘s College of ASEAN Community Studies, hosted the Aug. 16-17 exhibition at Harbor Mall that highlighted five Lower North region provinces: Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Tak and Uttaradit.
Atit said the northern roadshow complies with Thailand‘s strategic tourism plan of 2015-2017 which defines three strategies: tourism marketing promotion, development of products and tourism services, and tourism management.
He said the Lower North has key eco-tourism attractions, such as Phu Hin Rong Kla, Thung Salaeng Luang and Khao Luang, Khao Kor and Phu Soi Dao national parks, as well as historical and cultural attractions like the Sukhothai Historical Park and Chan Palace.
The exhibition also showed off locally made products such as handicrafts, silverware, silk, cotton, wood cravings and food.
