Monday, August 21, Bangpakong Riverside – Stableford

A Flight (0-17)

1st Gary Bolger (16) 42pts

2nd Bob Watson (7) 39pts

3rd Wayne Peppernell (17) 38pts

B Flight (18+)

1st Derek Phillips (30) 43pts

2nd Alan Walker (23) 35pts

3rd Daryl Evans (24) 34pts

This course receives many accolades from golfers after a round here, and rightly so.  Once again it was displaying wide, nicely groomed fairways, rough not too rough, although one of our players thought it was, and the greens are almost the best around at the moment.

The locker room is big and roomy with modern décor. Perhaps a few more showers would be a good idea.

Derek Phillips scored a whopping 43 points today and wore the green jacket for the first time while Gary Bolger also had a great score of 42 points to top the first division.

The best nines for non-winners came from Graham Buckingham and Chris Barker.

Friday, August 25, Crystal Bay – Stableford

A Flight

1st Bob Watson (7) 39pts

2nd Maurice Roberts (12) 37pts

3rd Lee Rodman (11) 37pts

B Flight

1st Wayne Peppernell (17) 40pts

2nd Len Jones (29) 37pts

3rd Stuart Thompson 35pts

We had a good turnout of 21 golfers today for Crystal Bay and played C & B combination.  The tee boxes were clean and well defined, the fairways looked very good, even with the lack of rain, and the greens played well.

Wayne Peppernell has previously requested that I put him with some lower handicap golfers, because he says it raises his own game.  Well, it mattered not who he played with today as he kept his hot streak going with another 40 points to take top spot in B flight and post the best score of the day.

There were some good scores as Bob Watson came first in A flight with 39 points while Maurice Roberts on 37 edged Lee Rodman and Mike Allidi for the silver on count back.

Second to Wayne in B flight was Len Jones with a sub-handicap score of 37 points, followed by Stuart Thompson on 35.

Bob Watson and Stuart Thompson claimed the only near pins while the best nines for non-winners were Mick Coghlan and Mike Allidi.
