Sunday, August 20, Green Valley – Stableford
1st Billy Eyles (23) 40pts
2nd Don Lehmer (25) 39pts
3rd Mick Beresford (18) 36pts
4th Barry Copestake (21) 36pts
Near Pins: Billy Eyles
We had three groups out today so it was one flight but with four places up for grabs. There is still work needed on the course and our senior members still cannot play because of the no cart rule.
It was the inform Billy Eyles who stood atop of the podium with an excellent 40 points and a near pin to boot. Billy needed every one of those points as Don ‘the ladies ‘man’ Lehmer was just one stroke in arrears. The third and fourth spots on the podium went to a count back between Mickey nine holes’ Beresford and Barry ‘the boot’ Copestake, with Barry finding that the boot was on the other foot.
Tuesday, August 22, Bangpra – Stableford
1st Pat Regan (18) 35pts
2nd Tim Knight (28) 34pts
3rd Peter Walker (19) 33pts
4th Bill Peach (20) 33pts
Tuesday we met up with our friends from The Apple Bar at Bangpra to play a stableford competition. We had three groups so it was one flight but with four podium places. The course was in fine condition bur the greens were not the normal fast ones that Bangpra are famous for, with some of the best par threes and par fives around.
The man of the match with the top score of the day was Ireland’s Pat Regan with 35 points while Tim ‘the bionic man’ Knight was just a stroke in arrears to take the second podium spot. The tandem of Peter Walker and Bill Peach were knotted on 33 points and when the knot was undone it was Peter who took the flight third spot leaving Bill to close the podium.

The TPL descended on mass to the Emerald with a record turnout of 22 players for a Friday. The course played very tricky with the greens in fine shape. Two flights were required with four places in each up for grabs.
The A flight boys were led in by the golf manager himself, Mickey Beresford, with a rock solid 39 points. Mickey was one stroke clear of a tandem of players tied on 38 points – Aussie legend Daryl Ottaway and Wayne Cotterall, with Daryl’s maths on the back-nine adding up the better. Tony ‘the glove’ Oaks rounded up the flight with a steady35 points.
B Flight produced the man of the match in the shape of Don ‘the ladies’ man’ Lehmer with a splendid 40 points. Eng, the better half of Wayne, showed him how to win a count back by edging Bill Peach for the silver as both were knotted on 35 points. Thiery Temine closed the flight with 31 points.
