Pattaya officials threw water on speculation an outdoor market would open below the Pattaya sign near Bali Hai Pier.
City spokesman Pinit Maneerat said the “call for investors” posted on Facebook about the so-called Bali Hai Market was nothing more than wishful thinking. There has been no proposal submitted or legal documents filed for such a project, he said.
The post by a real estate development firm included an artist’s rendering of the proposed market that would include restaurants, bars, souvenir shops and street vendors.
The proposal said it would tie in to dilapidated and closed Bali Hai Marina, which they claimed is being rebuilt. In fact, repairs are merely under study and no budget has been approved for renovation.
Pinit again pointed out people shouldn’t believe everything they read just because it’s on Facebook.
