The Provincial Electricity Authority reminded customers that the utility never collects payments from home after fraudsters began showing up at people’s houses impersonating bill collectors.
PEA assistant manager Chaiya Somwang said Sept. 30 that the company only collects electric bill payments at service counters and online.
Chaiya also noted that the receipts being handed out by the grifters are fake, bearing only the PEA logo, not the long computerized printout the utility issues.
He advised anyone who had paid a bogus PEA bill collector at home to file a report with police.
