Monday, Sept. 25, Pleasant Valley – Stableford

1st Steve Younger (12) 40pts

2nd Glenn Smith (25) 38pts

Near Pins: #5 – Steve Younger, #8 – John Edwards, #17 – JJ Harney

Long Putts: #9 – JJ Harney.

We had 14 golfers turn out eager for the challenge that was to present itself at Pleasant Valley Golf Club.  Yet another great course that we do not visit all that often.

We went from the front tees, which given the amount of rain that has been soaking all the courses lately and resulting in very little run, was the smart choice of the day.  This course is definitely improving as the years go by and with the very affordable golfing prices, friendly staff and caddies.

With the small field today we played only the one flight and two places only.  All novelties were in play (although we had trouble taking them out).  It was Steve Younger yet again coming up trumps as he returned with 40 points to finish 2 shots clear of his playing partner Glenn Smith.

Thursday, Sept. 28, Greenwood – Monthly Mug

1st Andy Zwart (24) net 61

2nd Bernie McCart (32) net 67

3rd Steve Younger (12) net 68

4th Mashi Kaneta (16) net 68

5th Shane Young (26) net 69

Near Pins: A2 Mike Beresford, A6 Patrick Poussier, B3 Bernie McCart, B5 Mashi Kaneta

Long Putt: A9 Simon Niven, B9 Andy Zwart

We had 19 enthusiastic golfers as we departed the Swan for the one hour plus trip up the highway to Greenwood Golf Club.  The course was in great nick with little run on the fairways, and with the greens playing true.  We played the A & B nines and went from the yellow tees.

To save your best game for your comeback game was certainly the way to do it.  Andy Zwart, playing his first game with us for a few months, made his presence felt with a standout net 61.  A fine score by anybody’s standard and worthy of winning the Monthly Mug.  Bernie McCart also excelled coming in second one shot clear of Steve Younger and Mashi Kaneta.  Shane Young filled the last spot on the podium.
