Friday, Oct. 6, Plutaluang – Stableford

After a horrendous storm on Monday with threatening thunder and lightning, the competition at Pattavia was cancelled and it was a similar story on Wednesday at Eastern Star.  After six holes of intermittent heavy rain the marshalls came out to us and the course was closed.

We booked the North and West courses at Plutaluang for the end of the week and surprisingly, for a Friday, there were no naval five and six-ball groups in front or behind us.

The cut was 9-15 and 16+ in the two divisions and Mark Potton topped division 1 with 37 points.  Seven points behind in second place was Paul Young and Nik Evans took third with 28.

The Durham boy John Hughes won division 2 with 33 points, Leo Adam was second one point behind and Peter Davies with a 17/17 and 12/10 back-six count-back beat Rod Howett for third after they both shot 31 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Dennis Scougall, Jerry Sweetnam (2) and Keith Wooley, and (Div 2) Peter Davies (2), Ian Gumbutt and Rod Howett.

Mark Potton and Dennis Scougall both birdied the lighthouse hole to share the top flight ‘2’s pot and Peter Davies recorded the only ‘2’ in the second division 2 on West 8.

There were some very slick greens today which we have not encountered for some time here.  We were very lucky with the weather as the drizzle started as the fist group came in, but the heavy downpour didn’t arrive until everyone was back in.
