Monday, Oct. 9, Eastern Star – Stableford
1st Al Maramuto (12) 35pts
2nd Darryl Ottaway (08) 34pts
3rd Nori Tanaka (10) 32pts
Eastern Star, with wet fairways was playing to its true length on Monday but the greens were running as true as always.
Nori Tanaka has recently been in fine form and his 32 points was good enough to take 3rd spot today. Left-hander Darryl Ottaway came to grips with the conditions well and his 34 points was enough to take the silver. However, no one could better the 35 points scored by Al Maramuto and in his last 7 rounds the man from Hawaii has not been out of the top 4.

Tuesday’s visit to Phoenix proved to be popular as 27 golfers prepared to take on the most local of golf courses.
In Division 2, Andrew Ottaway scored 32 points and on a day when a lot of players struggled this was good enough for 3rd place. Alun Webber scored a handy 35 points to take 2nd, however this was not good enough to take the division’s top prize as Eddie Townsend’s 37 was good enough to win the day.
In Division 1, Mike Rushant fighting the effects of jet lag, scored 37 points to take 3rd place and was just beaten into second as Al Marumoto once gain made the podium with a stronger back 9. The winner of the day in the top division came in the form of Nori Tanaka and his fine round of 43 points gave him his third victory in his last 6 appearances.
Wednesday, Oct. 11, Pattavia – Stableford
1st Al Marumoto (11) 35pts
2nd Jim Cooper (15) 33pts
3rd Mike Rushant (12) 32pts
Rapid greens are on the menu whenever the group visits this course. Mike Rushant with cigar in hand managed to post 32 points and this was good enough for third place. Jim Cooper once again made a podium with 33 points to take second but it was left again to the player of the week, Al Marumoto, to take the top prize with 35 points. It took 15 appearances for Al to record his first TRGG victory but the flood gates have now been well and truly opened.
Thursday, Oct. 12, Green Valley – Stableford
1st Al Marumoto (11) 43pts
2nd Cho Mr (10) 41pts
3rd Alun Webber (23) 35pts
Al Marumoto made it 3 wins in a week on the Thursday visit to Green Valley. His 4-over par round completely blew away the rest of the field and his 43 points left everyone else trailing in his wake.
Cho Mr came an admirable second with a round of 41 points and took advantage of the fine condition of the Green Valley course.
Third place was taken by Alun Webber, overcoming the handicap of a hideous swing, as “Porthcawl Panther” once again made the podium.
Friday, Oct. 13, Burapha – Stableford
1st Al Marumoto (10) 38pts
2nd Wayne Green (4) 37pts
3rd Don Hawkins (15) 37pts
On a day where steady rain kick started proceedings, a steady nerve was required for the visit to Burapah. Don Hawkins generally doesn’t do wet golf but this was a day that the tide turned and a fine round of 37 points gave him 3rd spot and a much needed place on the podium.
Also with 37 points but with a better back 9 was Wayne Green. Playing off a 4-handicap he can drive an opponent wild with his natural ability. No practice swing needed, he takes a sip from the can, steps onto the tee and wham, 320 yards down the fairway. A simple game plan indeed and on this day a well-deserved second place for the Australian.
The winner was the man who is currently testing my creative writing skills to the limit whilst at the same time playing the handicap committee so well. 38 points and a fourth win for Al Marumoto in a stunning week.
Saturday, Oct. 14, Parichat G.C. – Stableford
1st Mike Rushant (13) 36pts
2nd Alan Murray (12) 35pts
3rd Billy Allan (20) 35pts
Parichat was the venue on Saturday and Billy Allan, who is now an honorary member of this golf course, scored a fine 35 points to take 3rd place. Just beating Billy into second as a result of a better back 9 was Alan Murray. The round of the day came from Mike Rushant whose 36 points should stave off homesickness as his beloved Canada drops into yet another freezing winter.
