DMH Director-General Boonruang Triruanworawat said that it is normal for people to experience sorrow, grief, and the recollection of the late King as it is a great loss of a loved and revered person, but the sadness should fade over time.

He said that each individual person has their own way to cope with grief, but the denial of sorrow could instead prolong it.

People are encouraged to take care of one another and look out for signs of depression among others, with indicators being spontaneous crying, feelings of isolation, and a lack of focus. Serious behavioral disorders may indicate severe depression and should be reported to local medics or by calling the 1323 mental health helpline.

The DMH director-general said people should send out positive energy for everyone to overcome the great sorrow. He quoted one of the royal teachings of the late King as saying, “In life people must face both happiness and sadness, both satisfaction and disappointment, thus every person should be prepared and don’t be negligent… I wish all of you would keep yourselves healthy, have a robust mind, and always be conscious, in order to get yourselves through undesirable situations and achieve happiness and success as you wish…”
