Royally bestowed flame handed out across nation

Chiang Rai – Provinces across the nation have given royally bestowed pilot flames to district offices for use at royal crematorium replicas during the royal cremation ceremony of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Chiang Rai held a ceremony Tuesday to hand the flames to 18 district chiefs. It took place at the province’s central hall before an image of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn. The flames will light sandalwood flowers at the province’s flower laying venues except in its Muang district, which has a replica of the royal crematorium.

The chiefs of Petchabun’s 10 districts received their flames from the provincial governor. They will keep the flames at sandalwood flower laying venues until they are to be used on Thursday.

In Nan province, the handover ceremony was held at Wat Phratatchahaeng and saw 15 district chiefs receive the royally bestowed flames.

The flame was setup before an image of His Majesty the King at Nakhon Panom’s provincial hall, with chiefs from 11 of the province’s districts receiving their flames from the central royally bestowed flame.

Pichit province’s governor chose Wat Ta Luang to host the flame dispersal ceremony, which saw the handing of the flame to 12 district chiefs.

The flames were previously received by provincial governors in a ceremony held at the Ministry of the Interior chaired by the Prime Minister.
