The Diana Group donated more than 1.7 million baht to Khao Pho Thong Temple during the annual “kathin” ceremony.
Managing Director Sopin Thappajug led a group of Diana employees and donors, including Sompet and Pradub Wansiri, to the Banglamung District temple Oct. 22.
The money will be used to refurbish and maintain the temple’s sermon hall, supporting buildings and its Lord Buddha images.
The kathin festival is a Buddhist tradition held at the end of rainy season. The festival generally lasts for a month and is a time for temple patrons to express gratitude to monks. Robes are the most-common gifts lay Buddhists bring to make merit.
However, in recent times, robe donations has become secondary to the donation of cash or supplies to temples that is used to develop permanent structures and support Buddhism.
