The ashes of more than 400,000 wood-pulp flowers burned at Chonburi’s mirror royal cremation ceremony were scattered at sea by the Royal Thai Navy.
Gov. Pakarathorn Thienchai was aboard the HTMS Taksin as it left Sattahip Pier Oct. 27 to release the ashes from 406,879 sandalwood flowers offered by residents at ceremonies at the provincial hall.
Vice Adm. Banjob Poedaeng and top Navy Area 1 officers joined provincial leaders in praying for HM late King Bhumibol as the remains of good wishes were scattered to the sea and wind.
The flowers were donated by 60,853 people from Muang District, 120,000 people from Sriracha, 64,800 people from Banglamung, 41,141 people from Sattahip, 22,000 people from Phanat Nikhom, 13,100 people from Nong Yai, 12,000 people from Koh Jan, and 1,856 people from Koh Sichang.
