The Billabong Golf Group
Monday, Dec. 3, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
Mountain Shadow was our venue for today and it was in great condition as usual we were off on time. We only had two groups and as it was JJ Harney’s last game for this trip (he went home on Wednesday) there were some laughs out there and some very good shots.
Kiwi Bill Marsden was one roll short of his first ever hole in one on the 17th, while John Ronson, his playing partner ran his ball across the hole also. Great shooting lads! These greens are probably the quickest you can putt on in this area – they are like lightning and there were a few three putts out there today.
Friday’s top three, John Locke, Bob Pearce and Greig Ritchie.
The scores today were ordinary in most cases but there were a couple of exceptions, namely Kiwi Bill with 33 points coming in second and the winner JJ Harney with a magnificent 34 points.
There were two ‘2’s today, both on the same hole the 17th, which Bill Marsden and John Ronson both birdied, well done lads.
Friday, Dec. 7, Pleasant Valley – Stableford
Pleasant Valley was on the cards for today and as it has been a while since we played this course it really was a pleasure to be here. The course was in magnificent condition and to make it a good day out it was decided that we play from the white markers, it does make the course easier for the old boys as even the short hitters can make the greens in regulation as you will see by the unbelievable scores.
There was a good day out for all but 3 players who scored under 30 points. First place went to John Locke with 42 points ahead of second placed Bob Pearce with 39 on a count back from Greig Ritchie, then came Kev Wild and Gary Bolger with 36 points and Brian Maddox and Scotty Eaton with 35’s. I think everybody had a day to remember.
There was only one 2 and that went to John Locke, all in all John had a great day.
We will be coming back as all enjoyed themselves even though it was a little slow with the round taking over 4½ hours.
