Monday, Nov. 13, Phoenix Gold – Stableford

Phoenix with 8 groups playing and we got away a little early in just a misty type drizzle but not enough to get wet.  There were no carts allowed on the course so winter rules applied and were needed in most places.  The greens were still as fast as usual but not holding unless you put in a really high shot.

There was a count-back between 4 players for the minor places today with Kevin Wild, just back from the wilds of the North Sea, taking 4th place with a fine effort of 34 points.  Coming 3rd was the inform Richard Steadman, also on 34 and in second was Graham Beaumont with 35.  The man of the moment John Anderson took top spot after playing to his handicap and scoring 36 points.

There were only two ‘2’s, coming from John Anderson and Nipper Truscott.

Wednesday, Nov. 15, Green Valley – Stableford

The recent high winds, heavy rain and variable temperatures of the past few weeks had the decency to hold off at Green Valley to allow an uninterrupted 18 holes.

The ladies continued to score well today, with Miss Porn only managing 3rd place with 39 points.  Miss Som, celebrating the return of her husband after 3 months away, recorded a whopping 42 points but even this score could not unseat Miss Phin from the top spot as her 44 points included 5 pars and 1 birdie on the back nine for 24 points.

Capt. Bob played Green Valley for the first time in quite a while but was unable to match the back nine score of Miss Phin through his 18 holes.  Auke Engelkes, playing for the first time with his new clubs, took 3rd place from Kevin Wild on count back, both with 35 points.  Seil Pete secured a place on the podium with 36 points but for the third week running William Macey outstripped the field with 39 points.

There were three 2s today, recorded by Miss On, Jeff North and Auke Engelkes.
