The highly competitive 2017 Varuna Cup, held at Royal Varuna Yacht Club from November 11-12, saw a great weekend of racing, even allowing for a storm that swept in on Saturday afternoon and caused the sailors to race for shelter.

As ever the Optimists had a very close series with Chalisa winning the last race from Weka to take the top place by one point.

In the youth fleet it was Miki clear at the top but there was a tight fight just behind between Aren and Sophia, again with just the one point separating them at the end.

Kaan showed great consistency in the Open Monohull class counting just first and second places to take the title overall.

Final congratulations go to Jerome and Jean-Francois for winning the Formula 18 Championship.  Roch and Florent were fighting it out all the way down to the last race to finish one point behind and make it an all French sailors catamaran  leaderboard.
