Pattaya’s police chief warned selfie-taking tourists that they could lose their purse or even telephone to thieves while lost in their narcissism.
Pol. Col. Apichai Kroppech issued the warning through the media Nov. 22 that some street thugs specifically are targeting people taking photos of themselves after dark. He told people to remain aware of their surroundings and not get lost in their own reflection in the phone screen.
He said police are actively working to catch the bad guys, but there are still some lurking in the shadows, waiting for people to put down their bags and pull out their expensive phones to snap another beauty shot, sometimes alone, after dark.
