The new consul general for the Kazakhstan embassy visited Pattaya. Mayor Anan Charoenchasri welcomed Raushan Yesbulatova to city hall Dec. 1.
Yesbulatova recently was stationed in Thailand and sought out Pattaya officials for information on tourism and potential investments.
He noted there are more than 800,000 Thais visiting Kazakhstan each year.
Yesbulatova invited Pattaya officials and residents to help celebrate Kazakh Republic Day on Dec. 16 at the Siam Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok.
The occasion will also celebrate 25 years of diplomatic ties with Thailand.
