Uthai Thani – Monks in Uthai Thani province have been forced to delay their morning alms rounds as temperatures have dropped to 12 degrees Celsius and below.

Many Buddhist monks had to postpone their daily alms on Thursday morning until the sun came out because the weather was too cold.

Monks at Nong Khun Chart Temple in Uthai Thani decided to start their alms rounds at 6 am as opposed to 5.30 am. Despite the delayed morning alms collection, they still had to wear yarn hats and layers to keep themselves warm.

Other monks at temples within the vicinity of Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary have been suffering respiratory diseases caused by the icy weather and some have been taken to the hospital.
