Today we welcomed back Roger Griffin, Jeff Johnson and KC from the Lone Star State of Texas and said good bye to ‘Wireless’.
Peter LeNoury stormed the back nine and finished on 39 points to take the frame. Don Bland stumbled early but managed a decent back to finish alone in second on 38 points. January monthly medal winner Tommy Boy Balch was third on 37 and fresh from the plane (via Walking Street) was Roger Griffin in fourth with a respectable 34 points.
Wednesday, March 2, Crystal Bay – Stableford
1st Brad Sproxton (11) 36pts
2nd Jim Mills (15) 34pts
3rd Grant Montgomery (7) 33pts
‘Kaptain Klipboard’ dodged a few sporadic blobs and managed to hold on to a 36-pointer and finish on top of an abbreviated field of 10 players. Jim Mills was second alone on 34 points and Grant Montgomery nipped out Peter Hynard for third.
A smaller field and a virtual empty course made for a sub 4 hour round – nice to see for the tail-end of the high season.
Friday, March 4, The Emerald – Stableford
1st Don Bland (4) 37pts
2nd Grant Montgomery (7) 35pts
3rd Warren Holland (21) 34pts
Overcast skies and a small drizzle did not dampen the spirits of the 19 brave souls who took on the Emerald challenge today.
Don Bland proved the best mudder and finished on top with 4 birdies and 37 points. Grant Montgomery, playing his last round for this visit, went out on the podium with a second place and 35 points (come back and see us again mate!) Warren Holland finished in the deuce pot and third overall with 34 points.
