A hotel cashier has been arrested for allegedly using a guest’s debit cards to buy a half-million baht in gold.
Sukanya Deecharoen, 36, was taken into custody Dec. 21 after Jidapa Thongchan, 42, and her foreign husband reported Dec. 17 that someone had stolen his debit card from a room at the Perfect Residence Hotel in North Pattaya and withdrawn 478,959 baht.
Security cameras caught the Nong Khai native using a room key left at the reception desk to enter the Jidapa’s room while the couple was visiting her relatives in Surin.
Sukanya was captured with a 2-baht-weight gold bracelet, 2-baht-weight gold necklace, framed gold amulet, and a 50-satang-weight gold ring. Also recovered was a pawn shop ticket and three consignment tickets for more gold, as well a land-purchase agreement, mobile phone and two motorbikes.
Police said Sukanya admitted to stealing the card, withdrawing cash and buying gold with it.
Police said she also admitted having committed the same crime twice before.
