Green Valley proved once again to be the perfect host yet again for our regular Sunday bash. The course was in fine shape but a really strong and very cold wind made it tough for the lads, all apart from Nick ‘Elvis’ Shaw who returned a fine 40 points for the match honours.
Mark Watkins made it two pay window visits on the trot as he edged Pat ‘the Irish rover’ Reagan for the second spot. Three players vied for the two remaining steps on the podium; Paul ‘the thunder from down under Hack, Mick Beresford and Barry ‘the boot’ Copestake. Paul emerged from the heap with fourth spot as Mick closed the flight and left Barry at sea level and pot less.
The biggest smile of the day came from Jimmy Bell as he picked up the rollover 2’s pot.
Tuesday, Dec. 10, Green Valley – Stableford

Today we had a rather smaller turnout than usual for our mid-week stint at Green Valley – the strong, freezing wind might have been a factor in that.
Barry ‘the boot’ Copestake took the top spot on the podium and the man of the match honours with a solid 37 points. Barry was one stroke clear of Bill Peach while two players were tied on 35 points apiece, Gareth Gill and Jimmy ‘AK-47’ Bell, with Gareth just managing to edge Jim for third.
Friday, Dec. 22, The Emerald – Stableford
1st Howard Bland (27) 40pts
2nd Tony Oakes (13) 35pts
3rd Kent Gustayson (28) 32pts
Near Pins: No 7 Kent Gustayson, No 15 Howard Bland.
Today was a perfect day for golf, especially if you like to play in windy conditions. As is usual nowadays the course was in very fine condition with the greens playing like glass.
The best score of the day was turned in by Howard Bland with a rock solid 40 points. Howard was five strokes clear of the man who is never far from the brass ring, Tony Oakes, while Kent Gustayson closed the flight with 32 points.
Gareth Gill was the sole heir to the 2’s rollover pot.
