An excellent turnout of twenty players for a Christmas Day game at Pattavia meant two flights. The course was in good condition, greens were still very fast and some almost impossible to keep the ball on the putting surface.
A flight saw a return to form of Colin Greig who has been in the doldrums of late with a very good score of thirty-seven points. Second place went to another Scott, Ian Rattray with thirty-four and Nial Glover brought up the rear with thirty-three.
In the B flight, Geoff Bracegirdle was another with a good score of thirty-eight points followed by Les Humphries on thirty-seven, his best score of this tour of duty, whilst Les Hall took third with thirty-two.
Wednesday, Dec. 27, Pleasant Valley – Stableford

Overnight heavy rain which continued into the morning was probably responsible for a lower than expected turnout, also four of our number played elsewhere in an inter-club competition resulting in a field of only thirteen.
Light rain was falling as we teed off but soon cleared to pleasant conditions for the rest of the round. A recent return to top form by Colin Greig saw him take first place with thirty-eight points, one ahead of Michael Brett in second place. Geoff Parker took third with thirty-five.
Shot of the day went to Jimmy Carr who put his ball into the water on the twelfth, the ball skipped out of the water and onto the fairway about twenty yards from the edge. If Jimmy didn’t have holes in his feet he could probably have walked on the water. Richard Baldotto might argue the point having hacked his way through the trees on a par five found himself eighty yards from the green for his fifth which he duly put straight into the hole for a par, as they say, “it’s better to be lucky than good”.

The last game of the week and indeed the year was played at the popular Crystal Bay course where twenty-three participated meaning we had two flights. The course was in good order, however, there was a deal of speed variation on the greens particularly a big difference between the C and B nines.
A new player to the Bunker, Julian Preissinger, off a four handicap, took out first place with a score of thirty-six points, clearly, a guy who can play golf. Second, went to Colin Greig with thirty-five points and third to Alan Sullivan with thirty-four.
In the B flight, Les Hall took the honors with thirty-three points followed by the other Les, Humphrey with thirty-two, beating Jimmy Carr into third on count-back.
Golfer of the month was a seesaw affair but with two wins and a second place in the last week it went to Colin Greig.
