Vendors working Cozy Beach say they’re tired of starting every morning cleaning up all the garbage that washes ashore every night.

Beach chair operator Uthai Pengpan, who has worked the Pratamnak Hill beach for 30 years, said the tide of rubbish is nothing new, but the amount now washing ashore is like nothing she’s ever seen.

Vendors are blaming tourist boat operators for dumping bottles, food containers and other waste overboard.

They said they’re tired of picking up after others and have called on city hall to do something about it, although the problem really is too big for municipal powers.

Ocean Conservancy recently claimed that Thailand, China, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam are responsible for as much as 60 percent of the plastic waste entering the world’s oceans.
