Sean McNamara has been coming to Thailand for many years but we think this was his first time ever to have an outright win with us, and when he decided to do it he certainly did it in style.  His excellent forty points gave him a very clear win in the A flight and to make it even better he also had a ‘2’.

Andy Featherstone also finished 2017 on a high note and today he was second on count-back over Nick Caulfield.

The scoring in the B flight wasn’t quite as good and here Peter Henshaw won it with thirty four points.  Russell Gilroy came second with thirty and we then had two players on twenty nine with Donal McGuigan winning the count-back over Phil Stephenson.

Tuesday, Jan. 2, Pattavia – Stableford

We had 23 people at Pattavia on a very busy day there.  It was a bit slow round but we were done in a little over 4 hours which was ok.

In “A’ division (5-15) it was a count-back to determine the winner and with a better back nine top spot went to Kevin O’Sullivan (15) with 35 points.  In second on the same score was Shaun Merriman (12) while Andy Featherstone (5) placed third on 34.  Phelim Moran (10) took the last place on the division podium with 32 points on a count-back over Sean McNamara.

“B” division (16+) was also won on a count-back and new member and a first time winner was Ken Hobbs (28) with 33 points, beating second placed Ken Hole (18) on the back-nine.   Joe McArdle (16) was third with 31 points and fourth went to Richie Martin (28) with 29.

We had two ‘2’s today, coming from David Wang & Andy Featherstone.

Thursday, Jan. 4, Khao  Kheow – Stableford

A Flight

1st Nick Looby (12) 32pts

2nd Nick caulfield (5) 32pts

3rd John Chambers (10) 32pts

4th Michael Williams (13) 31pts

B Flight

1st Ken Hole (18) 36pts

3rd Serge Stratten (20) 27pts

4th John Kelly (27) 26pts

2’s: Andy Featherstone, Mark Korbin, Craig Robson.

We were here at Khao Kheow on what was a slightly warmer day today.  Now that high season is here the course was busier and the golf slower but we still got round in around four hours twenty.  We played the B and C nines and all played off the longer yellow tees today.

The scoring wasn’t great and only one golfer managed to play to his handicap.  That was Ken Hole who despite blanking the fifteenth and sixteenth holes still came in with thirty six for the best score of the day and was a very clear winner of the B flight.  Evelyn McNamara was a distant nine points behind Ken but she still got the second place by beating Serge Stratten on count-back and John Kelly took fourth place with twenty six.

In the A flight, which was up to fifteen handicap today, we had three players with thirty two points and here Nick Looby won the count-back to get the first place ahead of Nick Caulfield and John Chambers respectively.  We then had three players with thirty one points and here both Andy Featherstone and Mark Korbin lost out on the count back to Michael Williams.
