Investigators suspect an electrical short caused a fire that gutted a Nongprue clothing store.

No one was injured in the Jan. 11 blaze on the fourth floor of the commercial building located 354/29 Moo 5 Nongprue. Firefighters took about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

Boonma Sapwised, 36, said he heard what sounded like a bomb before seeing smoke pour out of the shop. He tried to fight the fire with an extinguisher, but the flames proved too strong.

Investigators assume the explosion was an electrical short that lit the clothing on fire and spread to other equipment on the floor.

No damage estimates were given.
