Work has begun to replace storm-drainage pipes under Soi Chaiyapornwitee 22.
Nongprue work crews began digging up the road Jan. 29 to prepare for the pipeline replacement. New screens also will be installed to catch litter.
Blocked drains were blamed for severe flooding Jan. 26. The sub-district’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department was forced to deploy pumps to clear the water that pooled around area homes.
Residents said flooding is endemic in the area after every rainstorm.
