Banglamung District Chief Naris Niramaiwong lit candles and incense after welcoming top police and military officers, Chonburi and Pattaya council members, mayors of Huay Yai and Nong Plalai and other administrators to the service at Kratinglai’s Buddha­vanaram temple Jan. 28.

Banglamung Dean of Monks Pipitkitjarak said the Sangha issued an order for temples nationwide to hold prayer and blessing ceremony for HM the King and his mother on the 28th of each month.

Somkiat Thongsri, inspector with the National Office of Buddhism, said the services replace similar ceremonies held throughout last year for HM the late King Rama IX.

Each month’s ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. with chanting of stanzas after the regular evening chants.
