Sattahip’s police chief has no patience for hippies.
Following a Feb. 12 assembly in which Pol. Col. Chalothorn Preampree led officers in singing patriotic songs outside the station, he directed all the officers to remove their hats for a look at their locks.
Royal Thai Police standards require officers to keep their hair closely cropped, at no more than three centimeters on top and with no sideburns.
Four young non-commissioned officers were found to be letting their hair down too much and immediately were sent to the barber’s chair.
The best squad turned out to be Sattahip’s traffic cops, which all sported the same uniform look.
Chalothorn also conducted a uniform inspection to be sure all his men in brown’s suits were adequately tight and pressed.
