Sunday, March 25, Silky Oak – Stableford

A Flight

1st Andy Featherstone (4) 36pts

2nd Nick Caulfield (6) 36pts

3rd Kevyn Wright (14) 35pts

B Flight

1st Francis McGuigan (16) 37pts

2nd Joe McArdle (16) 33pts

3rd Kevin O’Sullivan (15) 32pts

2’s: Andy Featherstone (2), Rocky Hudson (2), Nick Caulfield

We were transferred from our usual Sunday slot at Green Valley because of a big competition going in there but unfortunately found that Silky Oak had deteriorated a lot from our last visit a few weeks ago, especially the greens which were in very poor shape.

Despite the course conditions we still had reasonable scores with the best coming in B flight where Francis McGuigan had a very clear win with thirty seven points.  Joe McArdle got the second place with thirty three and Kevin O’Sullivan, who likes this course, came third with thirty two.

In the A flight we had two players with thirty six points and Andy Featherstone won the count back which went down to the last six holes, Nick Caulfield being the unlucky player.  We then had two players with thirty five points and here Kevyn Wright won the count back to come third ahead of Craig Hitchens.

Tuesday, March 27, Pattavia – Stableford

Nineteen players were greeted with hot- humid and still conditions at Pattavia today. Special pricing until the end of May (1350 baht all up or walk 950B) is great value for a course that is always well maintained.

We decided on 2 divisions today and in A flight (0-14) we had a run-away winner with Michael Williams (13) finding his form again and a very good 42 points.  The minor places went to a 3-way count-back on 36 points that saw Craig Hitchens (14) take second, Andy Featherstone (4) third and Gerry Hannan just missing out.

B flight was not as good scoring wise with Francis McGuigan (16) taking the win with 35 points ahead of Joe Peters (22) in second on 33.  Third place went to a count-back with Dan Hobbs (24) taking it over Glenn Armistead (17), both with 32 points each.

Five ‘2’s came from Craig Hitchens, Kevin Blake, Joe McArdle, Gerry Hannan & Nick Caulfield.

Thursday, March 29, Eastern Star – Stableford

1st Russell Gilroy (17) 34pts

2nd Mikael Anderson (14) 32pts

3rd Kevyn Wright (14) 32pts

4th Joe McArdle (16) 31pts

We had a much smaller group out here today at Eastern Star so only had one flight. The course was in very good condition and is also great value for money at this time of year.

The standard of the golf wasn’t great and none of our group managed to play to their handicaps.  The nearest to do so was Russell Gilroy who was the winner today with thirty four points.  We then had two players with thirty two and here Mikael Anderson won the count back to come second ahead of Kevyn Wright.  Joe McArdle won another count-back to take the fourth and last place over the unlucky Francis McGuigan who was playing his last game for this trip.  We had no ‘2’s today.
