2’s: Paul Pavloff, Stuart Brown, Kevyn Wright and Peter Nordnes

The course is in what is probably the best condition it has ever been and we had some very good scores today despite the fact that there wasn’t much run on the ball.  We still had a good size group out and we had two flights with the cut for the A flight coming in at fourteen.

We got our best scores in the top flight with Paul Pavloff coming out the winner with thirty nine points.  Andy Featherstone had been burning it up and was two under par gross after sixteen holes but it slipped away a bit from him on the last two holes where he had only one point and although he also had thirty nine he lost the count back to Paul.

In the B flight we had two players with thirty six points and here Donal McGuigan won the count-back to take the top spot and Kevin O’Sullivan lost it and came second.  We then had two players with thirty four points and here Ken Hole won the count-back to come third.

Tuesday, April 3, Greenwood – Stableford

We had 16 players today at Greenwood playing the A & C nines.  As carts were on the path only and the course had no run we decided to use the forward yellow tees today (well most of us for all of the holes- no names mentioned).

Showing us all how it is done and easily our most consistent golfer Andy Featherstone (4) shot a 1 under gross 71 for a great 41 points and was a clear winner.  Second place went to Kevyn Wright (15) with 37 points while third and fourth was decided by count-back and Glenn Armitstead (17) took it over Donal McGuigan (20), both with 36 points.  Fifth place went to Gary Brown (9) with 35 points.

There were three ‘2’s today, coming from Andy Featherstone, Joe McArdle & Donal McGuigan.

Thursday, April 5, Bangpra – Stableford

1st Andy Featherstone (4) 37pts

2nd Gerry Hannan (12) 34pts

3rd Donal McGuigan (20) 34pts

4th Joe McArdle (16) 33pts

When we arrived here at this beautiful course it was completely deserted except for ourselves, which meant that we got round very quickly in well under four hours.  You certainly didn’t have to be a millionaire to play here today though as the green fee was only five hundred baht, a great price for a course in such good condition with both the greens and fairways in magnificent condition.

Andy Featherstone is by far our most consistent golfer and today on this long and difficult course he went round in three over gross to score thirty seven points and come out the winner again.  The next best were three points behind Andy with both Gerry Hannan and Donal McGuigan having thirty four points but Gerry won the count back to claim the second spot. In the fourth and last place for today was Joe McArdle with thirty three points and we had no ‘2’s today.
