Bangkok – Members of the Klongchan Credit Union gathered Thursday to file charges against the union and its former president for fraud and concealing information.
Former Bangkok Senator Paiboon Nititawan led those impacted by the policies of Klongchan Credit Union to the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road in Bangkok to hand in a 1,000 page file accusing the union and its former president Supachai Srisupa-aksorn of fraud. The file says that 412 people were defrauded by the union under Supachai, resulting in damages of over 1.115 billion baht. They also accused Supachai of concealing information, falsely posing as a financial institution, altering financial records and presenting false accolades.
Paiboon explained the action was due to prosecutors not pursuing the case in terms of fraud, saying Supachai used the credit union to defraud its members and that those impacted had the right to seek further damages against the union as a juristic entity.
The court has set an initial hearing for July 23.
