The HGM Education Fund donated 380,000 baht to a dozen poor students under care of the Human Help Network to help them continue their schooling.
HGM founder Hans Gunther Mueller was greeted at the HHN’s Drop-In Center May 8 by foundation Director Ratchada Chomjinda together with the children.
Scholarships of 20,000 baht each were given to two junior high and three high school students while five vocational college students received 36,000 baht each. Two university students received stipends of 50,000 baht each.
The funds will cover most the expenses for each student’s term. To receive additional support they must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average.
Muller said education is very important for all and students must not forget their goals. They must prove that they are worthy and convince supporters that they will make the most out of the scholarships given.
Siblings Natika Chuthong, 23, and Thanapol, 15, both received scholarships and said they come from a poor family. Their parents work hard but don’t earn enough to send them to higher education.
They said they were very grateful to receive support from the HHN and the HGM and they will be studying hard and do their best to prove that they are worthy students.
Another recipient, Watchara Suprasert, 18, has outstanding grades but his father had a stroke and has been disabled for 11 years, so his family is quite poor. He works part-time and gets some money from his family, but it wasn’t enough to continue his education.
He is now training to be a mechanical engineer and has a 3.36 GPA. Watchara thanked the organizations for their support.
