BANGKOK, 17 January 2013 The producer and director of soap opera Nua Mek 2, which was abruptly banned, has insisted that the show was a fiction depicting the human nature, and did not implicate any politician.
Clarifying the content of the soap opera to the Committee on Political Development and Public Participation, Producer of Nua Mek 2, Chatchai Plengpanich, said that the process of the production followed normal procedures. He said the Channel 3 committee had already read the story synopsis before the shooting of the episodes that were later taken off the air. Although the last three episodes had been altered, it was done for more excitement, and that the changes had been approved by the committee.
The producer still does not know the reason why his soap opera has been cancelled; in the meantime, both the government and the National Broadcasting Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) denied having anything to do with the axing of the last three episodes.
Chatchai’s wife, Sinjai Plengpanich, indicated that the show did not depict anyone, saying it was just fictional and for entertainment.
The Committee on Political Development and Public Participation has also called in representatives from Channel 3 and the NBTC to testify as it remains unclear whether politics is involved in this matter.
