PATTAYA – Once work is done burying cables on Pattaya North Road, the project will move south and begin burying utility lines along Walking Street.
No date has been set to begin construction, but once started officials estimate 90-days for completion. Plans are to start sometime before the end of the year. Contractors have yet to be hired as well.
Mayor Anan Charoenchasri and Pattaya Electricity Authority GM Niruth Charoenchob held a meeting May 30 to solicit opinions from owners of Walking Street businesses as to how to do the construction with the least amount of disruption to Pattaya’s busiest and most famous tourist attraction.
Current surveys showed how, due to limited space, it might be best to fence off and work on smaller areas, 30-50 meters at a time instead of the 100-200 meters at a time along North Pattaya Road.
Heavy machinery will be active during the day, 7 days a week, but will be put away at night. Barriers will be left around the construction sites with enough lighting and enough space for people to walk around. Autos and delivery vehicles will be detoured during construction.
PEA has invited people to submit concerns via letters to city hall. A further meeting will be held before construction begins. No date has been set for the meeting.
