All was peaceful as we boarded the bus and loaded the cars up for our next exciting adventure out to Silky Oak. What a magnificent course this is and it is still to be finished! With its 5 par threes and the par fives that all look impossible to conquer, it sets a challenge for all that dare to take it on. Not to mention the water carries!
Our guys were not daunted by the fact that we were going from the yellow tees with the expanse of water in front of us and not aiming up from the front tees. The course was in great shape with superb fairways offering perfect lies for those who managed to reach them.
The weather was not quiet with us, little or no breeze made it a bit uncomfortable as it was pretty warm.
Keith Buchanan set the pace for the day with his 33 points and claimed the bragging rights for yet another week. One point behind was Rudy Regenass while third past the post was Steve Younger, beating Denis Steele on countback after both returned with 29 points.
Thursday, May 31, Mt. Shadow – Monthly Mug/Stroke

Not a big field but a good size group assembled to battle out the rights to take the coveted monthly mug. Mountain Shadow was our destination and despite the rain we have had we were still expecting conditions to be good for the day’s play. Well we were not let down as the course was in top nick. The greens had been cored recently and that is the only fault that could be found.
We were to play from the white tees and with carts on course there was no need for lift clean & place.
Shane Young got out of the blocks best and everything he did turned to gold. At the halfway mark he was streets ahead of his playing group and apart from Gordon Clegg he was showing most of the field a clean pair of heels. The Jock could not shake Gordon though and the result had to go to the countback before Shane was awarded the mug. Alex Field and Mashi finished third and fourth which was also decided by a countback.
